So Many Benzes, So Little Time: Picking the Right Mercedes-Benz for You

Picking the Right Mercedes-Benz

Call Benzes pricey, but never call them limited in choice. As one of the largest luxury car manufacturers in the world, German company Mercedes-Benz offers several types of vehicles in its current line-up, with the goal of fulfilling the wide range of consumer needs and preferences. McMilland and Lower Sumas Mountain residents have a healthy number of choices, as illustrated below:

Sedans

The least expensive Mercedes-Benz models are the company’s four-door sedans. This category includes the manufacturer’s best-selling models: the compact C-Class and the mid-size E-Class, which have starting manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRPs) of $40,400 USD and $51,400 USD, respectively. The top-of-the-line S-Class provides the ultimate luxury ride, rather than the sportiness of its smaller siblings. At a starting MSRP of $94,400 USD, the S-Class is designed as the full-size sedan. The C-Class was the entry-level Benz until 2013, when the CLA-Class made its debut. Smaller than the C-Class, the CLA is geared towards younger residents or people who want a relatively inexpensive Benz. The CLA starts at the MSRP of $29,900 USD, which puts it at the price range of regular mid-size vehicles like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Coupes

For customers who want a sportier look from the C-Class, E-Class, and CLA-Class, there’s the coupe variant. Although the coupe is most commonly produced with two doors, the mid-size CLS-Class comes with four, which makes it perfect for those who need more space. At a starting MSRP of $72,100 USD, it is more than $40,000 USD less expensive than the CLS-Class, which is a two-door car built on the S-Class platform. The top-of-the-line Benz coupe is the SLS-Class, a two-door grand tourer built for optimal sportiness and starting at $221,580.

SUVs and Wagons

The compact crossover Benz SUV category consists of the GLA-Class and the marginally more rugged and bigger GLK-Class, which start at $33,300 USD and $37,900 USD, respectively. The M-Class ($48,000 USD) and the GL-Class ($63,600 USD) are Mercedes-Benz’s mid-size and full-size crossover SUVs, respectively. Not all Benz SUVs are built to drive like sedans or have smooth bodies. For customers that favor off-roading and that rugged, boxy appearance should look no further than the G-Class, which starts at $114,200. The G-Class is particularly great for residents who want to conquering the floodplains or mountainous terrain. Also, the E-Class vehicle has a wagon variant ($58,600 USD).

Convertibles and Roadsters

This category comprises Mercedes-Benz’s sporty two-seaters, which are ideal for the highway or places with little to no traffic. The E-Class and SLS-Class have entries in this category: as the E-Class Cabriolet ($60,200 USD) and the SLS-Class Roadster ($228,080 USD), respectively. The SLK-Class, which starts at $43,950 USD, is for those who want a compact roadster that is smaller and sprightlier roadster than the SLS-Class. Right between the SLS and the SLK is the mid-sized SL-Class, which goes for a starting MSRP of $84,000 USD.

Hybrid and Electric Cars

The E-Class vehicle proves its unsurpassed versatility in the Mercedes-Benz line-up by presenting customers with a hybrid version. With better fuel economy and reduced emissions, the E-Class Hybrid—which has a starting MSRP that places it in the middle of the model’s variants—is a good bargain for “green” conscious folks. Accompanying it is the B-Class Electric Drive, which is an even better choice. Since it uses electricity, instead of the hybrid’s reliance on gasoline and electricity, the B-Class has zero emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency. Also, at a starting MSRP of $41,450 USD, it is more than $15,000 USD less expensive than the E-Class Hybrid.
